Approximately 15,000 craneplovers pass through the Bay area annually, and more than 1% of bird species protected under the Ramsar Convention can be found at Suncheon Bay.
Ten of these species are: Pluvialis Squatarola (Grey Plover) (1%), Calidris Alpina (Dunlin) (7%), Numenius Phaeopus (Whimbrel) (1%), Tringa Nebularia (Green Shank) (1%), Tringa Guttifer (Spotted Green Shank) (2%), Xenus Cinereus (Terek Sandpiper) (3%), Tringa Brevipes (Grey-tailed Tattler) (1%), Limosa Lapponica (Bar-tailed Godwit) (1%), Numenius Arquata (Eurasian Curlew) (2%), Charadrius Alexandrinus (Kentish Plover) (1%)
